About Add-Ons

Add-On Classes

Some of our courses are advertised as having “add-ons” or “extensions” as options. These are smaller sub-sets of our main class where there is more focused attention on higher-order skills, many of which are designed to directly contribute to preparing for IGCSE or A-level syllabi.

Add-Ons are for students to go higher

All add-ons occur the 1/2-hour following the main class. There is approximately an additional 2 hours of homework each week as an average. Despite having this additional, focused attention from the tutor in smaller groups, the cost of an add-on is less than £4/week more.

The following courses have add-ons:

English: Middle Ages Literature The focus is on expository writing such as seen in the IGCSE English Language exam (letters, speeches, stories, etc).
English: Renaissance Literature The focus is on literary analysis in all three genres, that is, poetry, drama, and a little bit about prose. Crucial for literature exams.
English: British Novels The focus is on literary analysis for novels, including characterisation, structure, atmosphere, etc. Helpful for literature exams.
English: American Literature The focus is on three types of research papers.
Ancient History: Greece The focus is on learning to write investigations of historical source materials like coins, grave stones, and other artifacts. These are crucial skills for IGCSE and A-level history exams.
New Testament Life and Language The focus is on learning Greek.
Art History 1 The focus is on learning to write analytical responses to pieces of art. This is very important for exam preparation.
Spanish 1 The focus is on further conversation opportunities than possible in the main course. Students will improve faster with this option.
French 1 The focus is on further conversation opportunities than possible in the main course. Student will improve faster with this option
