American Literature

Our most advanced course, the American Literature syllabus tackles the highlights of historically influential, linguistically rich texts from "the colonies".

Texts include Scarlet Letter, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Little Women, Huckleberry Finn, The Jungle, The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, a choice of two authors (Hinton and Picoult), and finally, Fahrenheit 451.

The add-on literature book club will see a range of classic texts like Moby Dick and Of Mice and Men.

Finally, the writing extension is going to use my experience as a US university instructor, where I taught students how to plan, prepare, and write research papers. We will work through three different kinds: a traditional paper, a multi-media project, and an empathetic approach.

From 13th September, 2016, this course will meet on Tuesdays from 4-5 pm UK time, with the add-on extension starting at 3:30 pm.
